When an idea sparks for me, sometimes it just stays put. Never blossoming, just a little creative nugget that’s cemented in a corner of my brain. But when I’m able to see a clear vision, concept, and structure, that’s when I decide to see it through. What can I say… it’s the virgo in me.
This idea in particular came to me just a couple of days ago. I was so inspired by it I felt like a rainy weekend in Los Angeles was the perfect time to bring it to life. I’ve always been a reader-not so much a writer, so I’ll first start off by saying forgive me if this comes off clunky. I’m a little rusty, but excited to take you on this journey with me into the Library Booth.
My background lies in social media marketing and heading into 2024, I felt like I needed a change. A break from my phone and the constant scrolling. I also felt uninspired. Everyone seemed to be doing the same thing, wearing the same clothes, watching the same TV shows, and the algorithm was no help. I’m not one for new year’s resolutions per se, but I did start off 2024 with a goal to read 30 books by the end of the year. I’ve gotten so into it that I’m way ahead of that schedule and so inspired by all of the fiction I’ve been reading - so I’ve decided to share it with you, but not in the traditional book club sense. While I love a book club, (I’m in one, of course) I don’t want this substack to feel like you’re coming to English class. Instead, each post will focus on one book and bring it to life through a dinner party setting.
So, if this book was a party - what drink would they serve? What would they wear? What would be on the menu? What would the tablescape look like? What music would they play? If you know me, you know I love a theme and leaning into it with gusto. When I’m reading, I’m creating lots of little fantasies in my head and my imagination runs wild. I’m excited to see where this new creative path will take me.
Welcome to the Library Booth. If any of these posts end up inspiring your next book club get-together or just inspires you at all, you have my heartfelt thanks already.
Welcome to Substack, and thank you for adding me to your recommendation list!! Excited to read your future writings.❣️
